BAHÁ’Í WORLD CENTRE — A new short documentary titled “Expressions of Equality in the Family” is now available on Bahai.org.

Through the experiences of several families in neighborhoods surrounding the Bahá’í House of Worship in New Delhi, the film reflects on how the principle of the equality of women and men is gradually reshaping patterns of family life.

The documentary examines how families are reconsidering long-held assumptions about responsibilities, decision-making, and the nature of mutual support. It touches on themes such as the practice of consultation in marriage, the education of girls, and how families are transcending barriers of caste and tradition through a growing recognition of humanity’s essential oneness.

In one family’s account, the expression of equality is described not as a fixed outcome but as something fostered through years of shared decisions around education, work, and how to harmonize professional aspirations with raising a family—often requiring patience, understanding, and flexibility. Reflecting on this experience, Asif, one of the family members, explains:

“It’s important that we don’t make decisions without consulting with each other, because when we talk about equality, we participate in the consultations together.”

What emerges is a portrait of families striving to infuse daily life with spiritual principle, not through dramatic gestures, but through gradual shifts in how members relate to one another and contribute to the betterment of their communities.

“Expressions of Equality in the Family” is one of a growing collection of resources on Bahai.org that document efforts to translate Bahá’í teachings into action.

The Bahai.org website explores the beliefs and writings of the Bahá'í Faith and presents the experiences of those throughout the world who, inspired by the vision of Bahá’u’lláh, strive to contribute to the betterment of society. The website features detailed sections on what Bahá'ís believe and what Bahá'ís do, as well as an extensive Bahá'í Reference Library, making it a valuable resource for those seeking information about the Bahá'í Faith.

In addition to Bahai.org, the film can be viewed on YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook.
