#OurStoryIsOne: Marking a year when the arts inspired reflection worldwide
BIC GENEVA — Today marks one year since the Bahá’í International Community (BIC) launched the #OurStoryIsOne campaign, honoring the lives of the 10 Bahá’í women who were hanged on a single night for their beliefs in Shiraz, Iran, four decades ago.
The campaign has inspired a flourishing of artistic expressions from virtually every part of the globe, inviting reflection on the longstanding effort toward gender equality in Iran and around the world.
Looking back on the past year, Simin Fahandej, BIC representative to the United Nations in Geneva, stated, “The overwhelming response to the Our Story Is One campaign is a testament to the profound worldwide desire for the unity of the human family and for the equality of women and men.
“The artistic works the campaign inspired,” she continues, “call to mind the interconnectedness of the human family and our shared aspiration for a harmonious world.”
Ms. Fahandej adds: “In remembering the 10 Bahá’í women of Shiraz, we are reminded of the enduring power of the human spirit. This campaign has inspired countless people to envision a future where equality and justice are not only ideals but lived realities for all.”
