#OurStoryIsOne: Campaign calls for voices of support on June 18
BIC GENEVA — The Bahá’í International Community (BIC) has announced a two-hour social media event for June 18 to honor the memory of the 10 Bahá’í women who were hanged in Shiraz, Iran, 40 years ago on that day as well as to recall the sacrifices of all women for the principle of equality. The initiative, part of the broader #OurStoryIsOne campaign, sheds light on the continuing sacrifices made by Iranian women of every background in their pursuit of justice and gender equality.
The event on June 18 seeks to extend the campaign’s reach and signals the beginning of a year-long endeavor during which the BIC will weekly publish artistic contributions. The intensive phase is scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m. GMT and will span two hours, during which the BIC invites all to post or retweet #OurStoryIsOne.
The BIC’s social media initiative invites artistic contributions and public statements that emphasize the shared experience among the people of Iran as they work toward equality. A flurry of creative contributions from the public, along with expressions of support from officials and well-known individuals, have already brought wide attention to the campaign.
