The Mayor of Epsom and Ewell, Councillor Sheila Carlson – pictured center – attended a community gathering on 10 September 2011, marking the centenary of 'Abdu'l-Baha's visit to England. Ms. Carlson said that she thought schoolchildren should learn about 'Abdu'l-Baha, along with Martin Luther King and Mother Teresa.
