The oldest surviving Baha'i House of Worship stands on the shores of Lake Michigan at Wilmette, Illinois, U.S.A. The cornerstone of the temple was laid by 'Abdu'l-Baha 100 years ago on 1 May 1912. Construction work began in 1921, and it was finally completed in 1953.
